Message from His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the Release of Aung San Suu Kyi

I welcome the release of fellow Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi and extend my appreciation to the military regime in Burma. I extend my full support and solidarity to the movement for democracy in Burma and take this opportunity to appeal to freedom-loving people all over the world to support such non-violent movements.

I pray and hope that the government of the People's Republic of China will release fellow Nobel laureate Liu Xiaobo and other prisoners of conscience who have been imprisoned for exercising their freedom of expression.

CAMPEONATO MUNDIAL DE DUATHLON
BRASILEIROS EMBARCAM PARA A PROVA E TEM PARANAENSES NA DELEGAÇÃO

A delegação Brasileira, composta por 13 atletas que irão representar o Brasil no Campeonato Mundial de Duathlon, a ser realizado de 02 à 05 de setembro na cidade Edinburgh, Escócia. O Mundial terá as distancias de 10Km corrida / 40Km ciclismo / 5Km corrida, onde estarão participando entorno de 1.275 atletas de 35 Nações.
A Equipe Brasileira embarca para a Escócia no dia 01 de setembro com retorno para o Brasil em 07 de setembro, ficando hospedada na cidade de Edinburgh no Hotel Macdonald Holyrood.
O atleta de Curitiba Thiago Mattar Assad, mais conhecido como Turco (foto) é o destaque Paranaense da delegação Brasileira. Além de Thiago, os Paranaenses Marcio Roniak e Ana Paula Ribas Bernardi fazem parte da equipe

Triathlon is getting greener in Hungary! As part of the local Green Triathlon® initiative, the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championships Grand Final Budapest will feature several environmentally conscious components. The primary focus of the program during the five-day event is to raise awareness of the interrelation of athletics and environmental protection, while actively involving competitors, spectators, contributors and the media in various activities. The Green Triathlon® initiative strives to reduce the event's pollution and waste production, as well as ensures recycling through selective waste collection and processing. Working in conjunction with its local and international partners, the organizers are committed to utilizing ecologically sensitive solutions such as community transportation, selective waste management, a deposit-return cup system, as well as a green expo (for exhibitor information please write to greentriathlon@triathlonbudapest.com ).
